 Document signed "George Montgomery" for George Montgomery Productions and by a representative of Manchester Music, Inc. and the New York City Commissioner of Deeds, all in blue ink. 1 page, 8½x11. March 1, 1962.Addressed to George Montgomery Productions c/o Alexander Tucker, Beverly Hills, California. By signing this document, George Montgomery Productions signed over its rights to the Harry Zimmerman song "Thru the Eyes of Love" to Manchester Music for $1. In the year that he signed this contract, Montgomery produced, directed, wrote and starred in the movie Samar. George Montgomery (1916-2000), born George Montgomery Letz, wasanaction hero of war and western filmsof the 1940s and 1950s. He also directed several films in the 1960s.A former heavyweight boxer and stunt man before becoming a leading man, Montgomery was married for nineteen years (1943-1962) to singer/TV personality Dinah Shore,appearing often on her show after their amicable divorce. He's best known for his starring roles in Battle of the Bulge (1965) and Cimarron City (1958). His Oscar nomination for Best Art Direction (Ladies in Retirement, 1941) foreshadowed his second successful career as a furniture designer. After retiring from acting, he concentrated on his various other interests, including sculpting and woodwork. He was a self-taught artist that put his skills to good use by building 11 homes. In 1981, he published an autobiography titled The Years of George Montgomery. Lightly creased. Ragged top, left and bottom edges. Light nick a bottom left corner. Folded thrice and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
