GEORGE MORGAN and TOMMY CASH The country music crooners pen their names on the verso of a Country Music Scrapbook Book Signed: "Thanks Ricky/George Morgan", "Tommy/Cash", 16 pages, 8½11. After country crooner GEORGE MORGAN (1924-1975) replaced Eddy Arnold at the Grand Ole Opry in 1948, he recorded a number of hit country singles, including "Candy Kisses", one of the songs that he wrote, which topped the country charts for three weeks and gave Morgan his nickname, "The Candy Kid". Over his three-decade career, Morgan also scored in the Top 10 on the country charts with his singles "Please Don't Let Me Love You", "Rainbow in My Heart", "All I Need is Some More Lovin'", "Room Full of Roses", "Cry-Baby Heart", "I Love Everything About You", "Almost", "I'm In Love Again" and "You're the Only Good Thing (That's Happened to Me)". Morgan starred at the Grand Ole Opry until 1956, when he left to host a TV program, but returned to the Opry three years later. Morgan, he father of country singer Lorrie Morgan, witnessed the debut of his 13-year-old daughter at the Opry in 1973, but, unfortunately he did not live to see her success in the 1980s; Morgan died of a heart attack in 1975. TOMMY CASH (b. 1940), younger brother to country and rock legend Johnny Cash, is a musician in his own right, beginning his career in music while working as disc jockey in the US Army. After leaving the army, Cash played with Hank Williams, Jr., later earning a record deal with Musicor Records. Despite a number of successful singles, including "Six White Horses", "One Song Away", and "I Recall a Gypsy Woman", Cash has not reached the same level of fame as his brother, but he still does continue to record and perform in addition to his career as a real estate agent. 2 unidentified signatures.
