Signature: "George P. Shultz/ Sept 25, 1971" as Nixon's Secretary of Labor, 7x9. Captioned
newspaper photograph, b/w, 2½x2½ overall, image 1x1¼ (one surface) affixed toward upper
right-hand corner. George Pratt Shultz (b. 1920) was President Richard M. Nixon's
Secretary of Labor in 1969 and served as Nixon's Secretary of the Treasury from
1972-1974. In 1981, he was named Chair of President Ronald Reagan's Economic Policy
Advisory Board, a position he held until he was appointed as Reagan's Secretary of State in
1982. Serving in the post until 1989, Shultz survived an assassination attempt in South
America in 1988. He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Reagan
on January 19, 1989. Slightly soiled. Irregular left edge where page was removed from
binding. Otherwise, fine condition.
