Accompanied by a typed letter signed. Forwarding letter from the Department of Labor, stamp-dated 1969 February 25. Lightly toned. Corners and edges gently worn. Otherwise, fine condition. George Pratt Shultz (b. 1920) was President Richard M. Nixon's Secretary of Labor in 1969 and served as Nixon's Secretary of the Treasury from 1972-1974. In 1981, he was named Chair of President Ronald Reagan's Economic Policy Advisory Board, a position he held until he was appointed as Reagan's Secretary of State in 1982. Serving in the post until 1989, Shultz survived an assassination attempt in South America in 1988. He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Reagan on January 19, 1989. Two items.
