Magazine Cover signed: "George P. Shultz" as Secretary of the Treasury, 8¼x11. Time
magazine cover for February 26, 1973. Cover story: "The Cheaper Dollar: Impact on Prices &
Jobs". Lightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition. Accompanied by a typed transmittal letter,
on letterhead of The Secretary of the Treasury, signed by Secretary, "Doris W. Hann". In part:
"Secretary Shultz has asked me to thank you for your letter and return the enclosed autographed
cover of Time magazine for your collection". Lightly toned. Corners gently worn. Otherwise, fine
condition. George Pratt Shultz (b. 1920) was President Richard M. Nixon's Secretary of
Labor in 1969 and served as Nixon's Secretary of the Treasury from 1972-1974. In 1981,
he was named Chair of President Ronald Reagan's Economic Policy Advisory Board, a
position he held until he was appointed as Reagan's Secretary of State in 1982. Serving in
the post until 1989, Shultz survived an assassination attempt in South America in 1988. He
was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Reagan on January 19,
1989. Two items.
