GEORGE RAFT, RICHARD CRENNA and ALICE FAYE
Signatures of three popular stars of the big screen and television.
Signatures: "George Raft" and "Alice Faye" and, on verso, "Richard Crenna", 5¾x3½ sheet. Imprinted: "Urgent" at lower portion of front. Actor GEORGE RAFT (1895-1980), best known for his tough-guy roles, frequently played gangsters. His films include Queen of the Night Clubs (1929, debut), Scarface (1930), The Bowery (1933), Rumba (1935), Souls at Sea (1937), Each Dawn I Die (1939) and They Drive By Night (1940). Raft, who reprised his gangster role in the 1959 comedy, Some Like It Hot, was also a prizefighter, ballroom dancer, night club and Broadway entertainer, the owner of a gambling casino in Havana, the manager of a club in London, and the backer of his own television series, I Am the Law. RICHARD CRENNA (1927-2003) starred in two early TV sitcoms, Our Miss Brooks (1952-1956) and The Real McCoys (1957-1963). A frequent TV guest star and guest director, he was most recently a recurring guest star on Judging Amy (2000-2002). His most highly regarded film performances include The Sand Pebbles (1966), Body Heat (1981) and The Flamingo Kid (1985). ALICE FAYE (1915-1998) was a chorus girl who rose to movie stardom in such films as In Old Chicago (1938), Rose of Washington Square (1939) and Tin Pan Alley (1940). She also co-starred with husband Phil Harris in a popular radio comedy series. Semi-retired thereafter, Faye remained popular on TV and in nightclub appearances. Slightly creased. Minor show through of writing. Minor paper loss at lower margin, touching the lower portion of the "A" in Alice. Silked on verso, touching Crenna's signature. Irregular upper edge from removal from bound book. Overall, fine condition.
