GEORGE R. R. MARTIN
His book A Dance with Dragons, signed on the title page
Book signed: "George R R Martin", 6½x9½ 1,119 pages. A Dance with Dragons: Book 5 of a Song of Ice and Fire, by George R. R. Martin. New York: Bantam Books, 2011. Hardcover with dust jacket. Author, screenwriter and anthology editorGeorge R. R. Martin (b. 1948) began writing in the science fiction genre, receiving nominations and some wins for all the major awards (Hugo, Nebula, Locus). While continuing to write the occasional SF or horror story, Martin now concentrates on fantasy, especially his Ice and Fire series begun in 1991. A Dance with Dragons, the fifth volume in the series, shot to the top of the New York Times best seller list. Martin's stories usually have a dark tone; he isn't hesitant to kill off major characters. As one critic noted, he "shares Shakespeare's fondness for the senselessly tragic." Amidst his writing, Martin finds time to collect comic books and direct chess tournaments, and he is a popular and accessible figure at fan conventions. Fine condition.
