in black felt tip, 3½x2 card. George Vernon Hansen was born on September 14,
1930 in Tetonia, Idaho. He received a B.A. from Ricks College in 1956 and
graduated from Grimms Business College in 1958. He served in the United
States Air Force (1951-1954) and was an officer in the United States
Naval Reserve (1964-1970). He worked as a grain elevator manager, teacher
and life insurance salesman before being elected as the mayor of Alameda,
Idaho (1961-1962). Hansen served as city commissioner of Pocatello,
Idaho (1962-1965) and as past director of the Idaho Municipal league
(1961-1963). He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives as a
Republican from Idaho and served from January 3, 1965 to January 3, 1969.
After his first two terms in office, he ran two unsuccessful U.S. Senate
campaigns and worked for the Department of Agriculture (1969-1971). He was
elected again to the U.S. House of Representatives and served from January 3,
1975 to January 3, 1985. Lightly soiled at left edge. Otherwise, fine
condition.
