GEORGIA CARROLL
Vintage 5x7 of a "Gorgeous Georgia Carroll" of Kay Kyser's Band. A rare
signature!
Photograph signed: "Best Wishes/Georgia Carroll". B/w 5x7. Native
Texan, Georgia Carroll (1919-2011) was the model for The Spirit of the
Centennial statue at the 1936 Texas Centennial Exposition. The statue still
stands at what is now the Women's Museum in Dallas. Beginning in 1941, she had
several small uncredited film roles - the most noted being Betsy Ross in
Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942). Multi-talented, she became the featured
singer with Kay Kyser's band in 1943 and earned the nickname "Gorgeous Georgia
Carroll". Carroll married Kyser in 1944 and retired in 1946. Corners very
lightly worn. Fine condition.
