Arthur, London. In full: "I have just come across a letter from you
and J. E. Anton. It is such a lovely flattering letter that I am wondering if I
answered it, and if I did sign those cards and return them months ago? Very best
wishes, from," English music hall star "Wee" Georgie Wood (1894-1979)
stood 4'9", went on stage as a child and performed all his life in the role of a
child. The Beatles mention Wood on their album Let It Be (1970).
After an improvised passage, John Lennon says in a falsetto voice: "That was
'Can You Dig It?', by Georgie Wood." The Savage Club, a leading London
gentleman's club was founded in 1857.
