British born Georgine Parkinson (1938-2009) was schooled first in a
convent and then at Sadler's Wells Ballet, joining the Royal Ballet in 1957.
Although she trained in the classics she was at home in the more modern works.
She was Odette-Odile in Swan Lake and Raymonda inRaymonda
but made her breakthrough in Les Biches in 1964 at the Royal
Ballet. Parkinson was in the original casts of Monotones I (1965) and
Enigma Variations (1968). After moving to the US, she continued to
perform and also began to teach at the Ballet Theater (1978). More recently, she
coached actresses Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis in the film Black Swan,
due to be released in 2010. She died at age 71. Lightly creased (not visible
head-on). Fine condition.
