GERALDO RIVERA
The reporter inscribes this photo postcard to his fans in black felt tip
Inscribed Picture Postcard signed: "to Eddie + Betty/ Geraldo/ Rivera" in black felt tip, b/w, 5x7. Addressed to “Eddie + Betty Sousa/ 27914 Capetown Ave/ Hayward, California/ 94575”. Postmarked New York, New York November 6, 1975. Geraldo Rivera (b. 1943), a TV reporter with a fondness for sensationalistic stories, has broadcast successively for ABC, NBC, and Fox networks. After appearing frequently on the ABC shows 20/20 and Nightline, he got his own shows: Goodnight America (from 1980) and Geraldo (1987-1998). Rivera, no stranger to controversy, was fired from ABC after criticizing its decision not to air a story about JFK's relationship with Marilyn Monroe, and was asked to leave Iraq by the U.S. Army after revealing planned troop movements on the air. Rivera has broken legitimate stories, as when he reported that Elvis Presley died from drug abuse, not a heart attack. In other cases, his reports have proven grossly exaggerated (like his claims of a national Satanic network) or anti-climactic (as when he opened Al Capone's "treasure vault" to find only a few broken bottles). Rivera has often been parodied, and has frequently participated in a good-natured way in the spoofs. Lightly toned. Edges and corners slightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
