GERTRUDE MICHAEL - AUTOGRAPHED INSCRIBED PHOTOGRAPH - HFSID 289831
Price: $800.00
GERTRUDE MICHAEL
Extremely rare studio photograph from Paramount, inscribed in person
to collector Saul Goodman.
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Saul -/Best wishes/for your
success-/Gertrude Michael". B/w, 8x10. Gertrude Michael (1911-1964)
made her film debut in Wayward (1932), but her best remembered role
was in the pre-Code movie Murder at the Vanities (1934), in which she
sang an ode to marijuana. Michael was a frequent TV presence in the 1950s,
including guest appearances on Perry Mason (1958) and Sea Hunt.
She was the model for the heavy-drinking lover in Paul Cane's novel Fast
One. Saul Goodman
(1919-2003), a New York business man by day, pursued his love of film and
theatre in the evening, making friends with many celebrities. While other
autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars with snazzy
photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain pen. Lightly creased, mainly
at edges and background. Corners lightly worn. Top right corner creased.
Otherwise, fine condition.
