Autograph Letter Signed: "Giacomo Puccini", 1p, 11¾x7¼. Torre Del Lago, Tuscany, Italy, 1919 July 30.Addressed by Puccini to Antonio Beltolacci on verso. In Italian, not translated. Giacomo Puccini (1858-1924), the greatest Italian opera composer of his time, wrote a number of operas, including his three most famous works, La Bohème, Tosca and Madama Butterfly, while living at Torre Del Lago, the home he had purchased in 1891.In January 1919, six months before he wrote this letter, another of his operas, Trittico, had debuted in Rome, after first being staged in New York in December 1918. Puccini and his family lived at Torre Del Lago until 1921, and the home became a museum after the death of Puccini's wife in 1930. Lightly creased with folds, vertical fold touches Giacomo. Nicked at vertical folds at upper blank margin and lower blank margin beneath signature, 2x½-inch paper loss at upper right blank margin. Lightly stained on verso, which has show through of ink. Overall, fine condition.
