Sale Price $1,360.00
Giacomo Puccini sends an autograph letter in Italian about an upcoming concert.
Autograph Letter Signed: "G. Puccini" in Italian, 1p, 6x9¾. Milan, no date. Not fully translated. After confirming an earlier discussion, Puccini continues, in part: "About the artists, I can assure you that Burfio will be there. I suggested several names for the tenor and for the baritone but we can discuss them further when it is opportune...." Numerous cross outs and corrections in what seems to be a hastily penned letter. Giacomo Puccini (1858-1924), the greatest Italian opera composer of his time, wrote a number of operas, including his three most famous works, La Bohème, Tosca and Madama Butterfly, while living at Torre Del Lago, the home he had purchased in 1891. Puccini and his family lived at Torre Del Lago until 1921, and the home became a museum after the death of Puccini's wife in 1930. Lightly creased. ¾-inch separation at blank left margin at mid-horizontal fold, ¼x2-inch paper loss at blank edge above fold. Mounting stains on verso, light show through at upper corners.
