Small sepia photograph of Giacomo Puccini crossing the
street.
Miniature Photo Mount signed: "Giacomo Puccini." Sepia,
2½x3¼ overall, image 1½x2 (two surfaces). Signed on mount
beneath image. Minor wear at top right corner and edges. Penciled note in
unidentified hand on verso: "Puccini and Loudvay/taken in Budapest 1904."
Giacomo Puccini (1858-1924), the greatest Italian opera composer of his time,
wrote a number of operas, including his three most famous works, La
Bohème, Tosca and Madama Butterfly, while living at Torre Del
Lago, the home he had purchased in 1891. Puccini and his family lived at
Torre Del Lago until 1921, and the home became a museum after the death of
Puccini's wife in 1930. Overall, fine appearance and a rare
specimen.
