Youthful 3½x5½ photograph signed in white ink by the Italian opera performer
Photograph signed: "Giacomo/Rimini". Sepia, 3½x5½. Dated on verso (unknown hand): 1929.
Italian-born opera baritone Giacomo Rimini (1887-1952), renowned for his interpretations
of Verdi, married Polish opera singer Rosa Raisa in 1916. They were long associated with the
Chicago City Opera Company and the Chicago Civic Opera. Although both became US
citizens, they returned often to his native Italy, spending summers in Verona and performing
at Milan's La Scala in the 1920s and early 1930s. Retiring together in 1938, they opened a
voice school in Chicago. Corners lightly worn. Signature lightly beaded but legible. Pencil
notes (unknown hand) on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
