He fills out and signs a $285.71 check to the Warwick Hotel
Check signed: "Gig Young", 6x2¾. Los Angeles, California, 1973 June 2. Check #347, drawn on his personal account at the City National Bank of Beverly Hills, payable to the Warwick Hotel for $285.71. Entirely filled out by Young. Gig Young (1913-1978) made his screen debut in 1941 in You're in the Army Now under his birth name, Byron Barr. The following year, he played a character named Gig Young in The Gay Sisters, and subsequently changed his name to that of his character as there was already an actor named Byron Barr in Hollywood. Young, who was awarded the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award in 1969 for They Shoot Horses, Don't They?, was also nominated in that category for Come Fill the Cup (1951) and Teacher's Pet (1958). He also appeared in a number of other films, including Sergeant York (1941), Kid Galahad and That Touch of Mink (both in 1962), and appeared on several television shows, including The Twilight Zone. Young shot and killed himself and his newlywed fifth wife in 1978. Bank processing stamps on front and verso (not affecting signature). Ink notes (unknown hand) on front and verso (not affecting signature). Otherwise, fine condition. A portion of the screen image has been obscured to protect sensitive information.
