Gigi opened on Broadway in 1973 and ran for 103 performances. Jourdan (1921-2015) debuted in films in 1939, playing dashing, lead roles in a number of French romantic comedies and dramas. In 1948, he was invited to Hollywood by David O. Selznick, who cast him in The Paradise Case. Jourdan starred in a number of Hollywood films and international productions, including Madame Bovary (1949), Three Coins in the Fountain (1954), Gigi (1958), Can-Can (1960),Irma La Douce (1963), Octopussy, Double Deal (1984) and Year of the Comet (1992, his last film). After 1968, he also appeared in a number of television movies. Finnish actress TAINA ELG was born on March 9, 1930 in Impilahti, Finland. After performing at the Royal Ballet in London and the Grand Ballet du Marquis de Cuevas in Paris she was signed to a Hollywood Contract. She made her MGM film debut in The Prodigal (1955) and was soon honored by the Golden Globes with the "foreign newcomer" Award. Elg continued to perform on stage and in television and films for over fifty years and received another Golden Globe Award for her performance in Les Girls (1957). Other film credits include Imitation General (1958), The 39 Steps (1959) and The Mirror Has Two Faces (1996). While BETSY PALMER, born Patricia Betsy Hrunek in East Chicago, Illinois in 1926, has starred in occasional movies over the years, films as diverse as Mister Roberts (1955) and Friday the 13th (1980, as Jason's mother), her forte has been television. She has been panelist on several quiz shows, including I've Got a Secret (1957-1967), a guest star on many dramatic programs, and a regular on Knott's Landing (1989-1990). Lightly creased corners.
