GILBERT BECAUD
The French recording star pens a sentiment in English. Extremely Rare!
Autograph Sentiment signed: "Hello/G Becaud", 5x3 card. French singer/songwriter Gilbert Becaud (1927-2001) earned the nickname "Monsieur 100,000 Volts" for his energetic performances. A French Resistance fighter during World War II, Becaud was playing piano in 1953 when musical legend Edith Piaf encouraged him to begin a singing career. A frequent headliner at the Paris Olympia, Becaud recorded over 450 songs, many of them his own compositions. His "Eh Maintenant" (1961), released in the US as "What Now My Love", was his first trans-Atlantic hit. He co-wrote several songs with Neil Diamond, including "September Morn", and his tunes were hits in translation for many American vocalists, including Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson. Toned around edges. Ink note (unknown hand) on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
