Grosvenor (1875-1966) is best known for being the editor of the "National
Geographic Magazine" (1903-1954) as well as serving as Director

Married to Elsie Bell, the daughter of Alexander Graham Bell, he was

colored photographs, and Society membership grew from 900 to over two

conservation and wildlife, also wrote a history of the Society as
well as a number of other books. At the time of this letter, HERBERT HOOVER
was Secretary of Commerce under President Warren G. Harding (he would serve
from 1921-1928, continuing in the post under Harding's successor, Calvin
Coolidge). During his tenure, Hoover became President of the American Child
Health Organization, and he would raise private funds to promote health
education in schools and communities. Lightly creased at upper portion.
