GILDA RADNER. Carbon Contract signed: "Gilda Radner" in ink
as Performer, 4p, 8½x11, front and verso, with photocopied rider, 1p,
8½x11. New York, New York, 1977 December 29. Headed: "Standard AFTRA
Engagement Contract - Network Television/Single Broadcast and Multiple
Broadcasts/Within One Calendar Week". Radner contracts with the NBC
Broadcasting Company to appear in its telecast of the Orange Bowl Parade.
Her appearance was to take place on December 31, 1977, and she was to be paid
$350. Also signed by a representative of the National Broadcasting
Company, Inc. In the year she signed this document, Radner was starring on
Saturday Night Live, and she appeared in a SNL TV special, Things We
Did Last Summer. Gilda Radner (1946-1989) was one of the original
cast of NBC's Saturday Night Live (1975-1980), creating such
characters as Emily Litella ("Never mind"), Baba Wawa and Roseanne Rosannadana.
In 1979, she moved to Broadway with Gilda Live, which became a
film the following year. Radner's other film credits include The Last
Detail (1973, her film debut), Blazing Saddles (1974), Hanky
Panky (1982), The Woman in Red (1984) and Haunted Honeymoon
(1986, her last film). Her second husband, from 1984 until her death from
cancer in 1989, was fellow actor Gene Wilder. Her autobiography, It's
Always Something, was published the year she died. Lightly creased, not at
signatures. Stapled at upper left corners. "Valuable Papers File" stamped at
lower margin of first page and on rider, blue pencil notes (unknown hand) at
upper right margin of first page. Minor show through of type on verso. Fine
condition.
