hockey's most patient men, someone who waited longer than he should have to find
stardom, but finally found it. In 1963, he was a member of the WHL Second
All-Star Team and was named WHL Rookie of the Year. He was also honoured as a
WHL First All-Star Team in 1966, an AHL First All-Star Team member in 1969 and
1970, won the Harry "Hap" Holmes Memorial Award (fewest goals against - AHL)
(1969, 1970) and the Les Cunningham Award (MVP - AHL) (1969, 1970). Ten
years after he embarked on a minor-league career, the patient goaltender got
what he truly deserved - the chance to play a significant role on the New York
Rangers. He played five strong seasons with the Rangers before injuries began to
take their toll.
