Ginger Rogers signs a printed card from The Club Lamaze in pencil
Inscribed signature: "To Elsie Myrus/Ginger Rogers" in pencil, 4x5 printed question card from The Club Lamaze, Hollywood, California, in connection with an appearance there by Myrus -The Man With The X-Ray Eyes. Elsie Myrus collected autographs from celebrities attending her husband's performances. Ginger Rogers (1911-1995) was singing and dancing in vaudeville while still in her teens. A major film star of the 1930s and 1940s, she was usually sought for musicals and comedies, but she earned a Best Actress Oscar in the dramatic title role of Kitty Foyle (1940, beating out Bette Davis, Joan Fontaine, Katherine Hepburn and Martha Scott). Rogers is probably best remembered as the dance partner of Fred Astaire, with whom she starred in ten films. Rogers was married five times, but rejected a proposal from Howard Hughes because of his infidelities. Print on verso shows through lightly at signature. Nicked at upper right corner. Otherwise, fine condition.
