GINO BECHI
Shown in suit and hat (4x6), the dramatic baritone inscribes with a sentiment in Italian. A rare signature.
Inscribed Photograph signed (in Italian): "[To illegible name]/cordialmente/Gino Bechi". B/w, 4x6. Italian opera star Gino Bechi (1913-1993) was a dramatic baritone known for his Italian repertoire, especially Verdi. He performed with the Rome Opera (1938-1952) and Milan's La Scala (1939-1953), performing only rarely outside Italy. He retired from the stage in 1965, pursuing a teaching career thereafter. He can be heard on many recordings, including a pirate recording of Nabucco from 1949 featuring his duet with Maria Callas. Fine condition.
