Program for The King and I, starring Gisele MacKenzie as Anna and William Chapman as the King, performed at the New Circle Arts Theatre, San Diego, n.d. Signed on front cover. Singer GISELE MACKENZIE(1927-2003) had her own radio show in her native Canada in the late 1940s, becoming familiar to American TV viewers as a regular on Your Hit Parade (1953-1957). She had some minor pop hits in the 1950s ("Hard to Get", "Pepper-Hot Baby"). She recorded many albums of popular music, starred on regional theatre stages, and made TV guest appearances into the 1980s. She wrote a song in praise of her adopted home, "My City, L.A.", which became quite popular. A frequent star on regional stages, WILLIAM CHAPMAN also made several Broadway appearances, from Candide (1956) to Shenandoah (replacement in the starring role, 1976). Lightly creased. Staple holes in upper right corner. Minor nick in upper left corner. Light, bisecting horizontal fold, with ¼-inch paper separation at right edge. Otherwise, fine condition.
