October 26, 1952. Promotional photograph for Savio's performance in La
citta invisiblile at the La Scala Theatre in Milan, Italy. Operatic
tenor Giuseppe Savio (d. 2004) came to prominence when successfully
competed with other young opera singers at La Scala in 1946, after which he was
able to attend their famous graduate program. He sang for seven seasons
there in Milan before traveling around Europe in cities such as Paris, London,
Berlin, and throughout Latin America; his last stage performance was in Florence
in 1971. Toned. Light surface creases. Corners rounded. Slightly toned on verso.
