GLEN CAMPBELL
Black and white publicity photograph of a young Glen Campbell wearing a polka dot shirt.
Photograph inscribed and signed: "'Mary'/your gentle/on my mind/always/Glen/Campbell". B/w, 8x10 overall, image 7¼x8 (one surface). An excellent guitarist, Glen Campbell (born in 1936) backed a who's who of popular recording artists, including Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra. He filled in as a Beach Boy in 1965, turning down an offer to join that band permanently. Beginning in the late 1960s, Campbell had many pop and country hits of his own, including "Wichita Lineman", "By the Time I Get To Phoenix", "Dreams of the Everyday Housewife", "Galveston", "Dream Baby" and "Rhinestone Cowboy". A popular attraction on The Summer Smothers Brothers Show (1968), Campbell hosted two of his own television variety shows, The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour (1969-1972) and The Glen Campbell Music Show (1982-1983). He also appeared in several feature films, including True Grit (1969), Any Which Way You Can (1980) and Rock-A-Doodle (1991, voice). From the 1990s, Campbell focused on live performances at his Goodtime Theater in Branson, Missouri. Slightly creased at upper left corner. Pencil note (unknown hand) on verso (no show through). Fine condition.
