GLEN CAMPBELL
Glen Campbell signs a contract to appear on The Midnight Special.
Contract signed: "Glen Campbell" in ink for Glen Campbell Enterprises, Ltd. (Contractor), 1p, 8½x11. Los Angeles, California, 1976 June 10. "Standard Independent Contractor Agreement - Television" for "Single Television Broadcast and Multiple Television Broadcasts Within One Calendar Week" in which Glen Campbell Enterprises, Ltd. contracts with Burt Sugarman, Inc. for Campbell's appearance as the host ("Principal Performer") on The Midnight Special at NBC Studios in Burbank on June 16, 1976. Campbell was to be paid $371.75 plus 10% agency commission but he was required to furnish instruments and cartage at his own expense. Also signed by a representative of Burt Sugarman, Inc. In the year he signed this contract, Campbell appeared in the made-for-TV movie, Christmas in Disneyland, and on two TV specials, An All-Star Tribute to John Wayne and Joys (a Bob Hope special). An excellent guitarist, Glen Campbell (1936-2017) backed a who's who of popular recording artists, including Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra. He filled in as a Beach Boy in 1965, turning down an offer to join that band permanently. Beginning in the late 1960s, Campbell had many pop and country hits of his own, including "Wichita Lineman", "By the Time I Get To Phoenix", "Dreams of the Everyday Housewife", "Galveston", "Dream Baby" and "Rhinestone Cowboy". A popular attraction on The Summer Smothers Brothers Show (1968), Campbell hosted two of his own television variety shows, The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour (1969-1972) and The Glen Campbell Music Show (1982-1983). He also appeared in several feature films, including True Grit (1969), Any Which Way You Can (1980) and Rock-A-Doodle (1991, voice). From the 1990s, Campbell focused on live performances at his Goodtime Theater in Branson, Missouri. Lightly creased, light diagonal crease at the "G" of Glen. Staple holes at upper left blank corner, 2 file holes at upper blank margin. Fine condition.
