Autograph Letter signed: "Glenn", 2 pages (front and verso), 6½x4¼. No place, 1990 January 8. On personal letterhead to "Dear Kitty". In full: "Thank you so much for the lovely lunch in your beautiful & gracious home. I'll be interested to hear what Mr. Moscher has to say ... [Ellipses in original.] And thank you for the two books! I can't wait to read them. Hopefully ... it will all work out. With fond best wishes". Glenn Close is one of Hollywood's most celebrated actresses. Her acclaim is not limited to the film world, as she has also found great success in various television and stage productions, most notably the Broadway musical version of Sunset Boulevard and in the acclaimed 1991 made-for-TV movie Sarah, Plain and Tall which was successful enough to have two sequels. She has been nominated for an Oscar five times (The World According to Garp, 1982; The Big Chill, 1983; The Natural, 1984; Fatal Attraction, 1987 and Dangerous Liaisons, 1988). While Close doesn't yet own an Oscar, she has 3 Tonys, an Obie, 3 Emmys, 2 Golden Globes, and a Screen Actors Guild award. She stars as a high-powered litigator in the TV drama Damages (2007-2010). This letter is addressed to, and was in the estate of, versatile singer, actress and TV personality Kitty Carlisle (1910-2007), who was still performing a one-woman show as late as 2006. She was married to playwright Moss Hart until his death in 1961. Fine condition.
