Heaven With a Barbed Wire Fence (1939), GLENN FORD (1916-2006) showed
his diversity in a wide variety of genres, playing dark characters (The
Blackboard Jungle and Ransom, both released in 1955), romantic
leading men (Teahouse of the August Moon, 1956; The Gazebo,
1959) and rugged western heroes (The Desperados, 1943; The
Sheepman, 1958; Cimarron, 1960). In 1958, Ford was voted the
number one male box-office attraction, and he was able to extend his
popularity long after the studio system that "created" him had collapsed. Later
in his career, he appeared on television as well as appearing in feature films,
including Superman: The Movie (1978). BILLY WARD and his DOMINOES
was a 1950s R&B doo-wop group who had hit singles with songs such as
"Sixty-Minutes Man" (1951), "Have Mercy Baby"(1952), "Star
Dust"(1957), and "Deep Purple"(1957). The group was inducted into the
Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2006. George R. Sanders, originally a disc
jockey, became a prominent radio/TV interview host, first in Los Angeles and
later in Portland. He collected autographs from his guests. Right edge torn and
frayed. Toned and slightly soiled. Creased throughout. Ink notes throughout in
unknown hand. Otherwise, fine condition.
