Check No. 254, drawn on the account of Gwyllyn Productions, Inc. at the Bank of America, Beverly Hills Main Office, payable to Cynthia Hayward for $711.50. Stamped signature beneath Ford's. Endorsed on verso: "Cynthia L. Hayward/[account number]". The year he signed this check, Ford appeared in three television movies: Punch and Jody, The Greatest Gift and The Disappearance of Flight 412. He was also the narrator for television series Friends of Man. After making his screen debut in 20th Century-Fox's Heaven With a Barbed Wire Fence (1939), Glenn Ford (1916-2006) played diverse roles, including dark characters like in The Blackboard Jungle (1955), romantic leading men as in The Gazebo (1959) and rugged western heroes such as in Cimarron (1960). In 1958, Ford was voted the number one male box-office attraction. Later in his career, he appeared on television and feature films, most notably Superman (1978). Ford was awarded a Golden Globe for his performance in the 1961 film Pocketful of Miracles. He enlisted in the military three times, but, to his dismay, he did not see any action on the front lines of either WWII or the Vietnam War.
