GLENN FORD The actor who starred in 3:10 to Yuma signed this document confirming his business engagement with the William Morris Agency, Inc. Carbon Partly Printed Contract signed: "Glenn Ford" in ink. One page. 8½x14. Beverly Hills, California, December 7, 1953. On letterhead of William Morris Agency, Inc. Headed: "All Purpose Service Authorization". Confirmation of Ford engaging the William Morris Agency, Inc. as his "sole and exclusive agent, adviser, manager and representative with respect to my services in all branches of the entertainment, publication and related fields, throughout the world" for a period of one year, beginning on December 8, 1953. Also signed by a representative of the William Morris Agency, Inc. under "Agreed to and Accepted". While this contract was in effect, he was seen in two features, City Story and Human Desire. After making his screen debut in 20th Century-Fox's Heaven With a Barbed Wire Fence (1939), Glenn Ford (1916-2006) played diverse roles, including dark characters like in The Blackboard Jungle (1955), romantic leading men as in The Gazebo (1959) and rugged western heroes such as in Cimarron (1960). In 1958, Ford was voted the number one male box-office attraction. Later in his career, he appeared on television and feature films, most notably Superman (1978). Ford was awarded a Golden Globe for his performance in the 1961 film Pocketful of Miracles. He enlisted in the military three times, but, to his dismay, he did not see any action on the front lines of either WWII or the Vietnam War. Lightly creased with fold, not at signatures. Staple holes at upper left corner, two file holes at upper margin. Otherwise, fine condition.
