GLENN FORD Known for his starring performance in the 1960 Western film Cimarron, the actor signed this First Day Cover honoring 1975 Christmas. First Day Cover signed: "Glenn Ford", 6½x3½. First Day Cover honoring Christmas, un-priced Merry Christmas!/1975 stamp reproducing an early card by Louis Prang affixed, postmarked Washington, District of Columbia, October 14, 1975, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. After making his screen debut in 20th Century-Fox's Heaven With a Barbed Wire Fence (1939), Glenn Ford (1916-2006) played diverse roles, including dark characters like in The Blackboard Jungle (1955), romantic leading men as in The Gazebo (1959) and rugged western heroes such as in Cimarron (1960). In 1958, Ford was voted the number one male box-office attraction. Later in his career, he appeared on television and feature films, most notably Superman (1978). Ford was awarded a Golden Globe for his performance in the 1961 film Pocketful of Miracles. He enlisted in the military three times, but, to his dismay, he did not see any action on the front lines of either WWII or the Vietnam War. Very faint remnant of erased address. Otherwise, fine condition.
