Ray Eberle (1919-1979) was a Big Band singer, popular with the Glenn
Miller Orchestra. The younger brother of Big Band singer Bob Eberly, Ray was
influenced by his older brother, and began singing without any formal training.
It would end up being Bob Eberly who would land Ray his job with Glenn Miller,
recommending his brother when Miller asked if Bob had any siblings who could
sing. His time with Miller was successful, finding enough fame to appear in a
number of Twentieth Century Fox films, including Sun Valley Serenade
(1941) and Orchestra Wives (1942). Unfortunately, his union with the
Glenn Miller Orchestra ended after Eberle was late to a rehearsal, and promptly
fired by Miller. He would go on to perform solo for many years, eventually
forming his own orchestra, though it would never achieve the fame of his past
endeavors. Corners slightly worn. Light surface creases. Paper remnants and
adhesive residue on verso. Ink notes (unknown hand) on verso. Otherwise, fine
condition.
