Signed 1967 copy of The Commonwealth advertising a lecture by Glenn T. Seaborg, co-recipient of the 1951 Nobel Prize for Chemistry
Pamphlet signed "Glenn T Seaborg". Black ink mark in unknown hand on page 3. 8 pages, 6x9½, 2 sheets folded, front and verso. May 8, 1967 of The Commonwealth, the "Official Journal of the Commonwealth Club of California". The front page advertises a May 12, 1967 lecture by Seaborg entitled A New Look at Nuclear Power. It also has an ad for a lecture by "Controversial Civil Rights Advocate" Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. Seaborg (1912-1999) shared the 1951 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work as co-discoverer of elements #94 Plutonium, #95 Americium, #96 Curium, #97 Berkelium and #98 Californium. Later, he played a part in creating elements #99 Einsteinium, #100 Fermium, #101 Mendelevium and #102 Nobelium. In 1994, a new element (#106 Seaborgium) was named after him, the first time the honor has been bestowed upon a living person. Lightly toned, soiled and creased. Folded in half and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
