Contract Signed: "Gloria DeHaven" in ink. 1p, 8½x13. February 24, 1958. Gloria DeHaven and Decca Records, Inc. agree to cancel a phonograph recording agreement of November 11, 1954. Decca is allowed to continue the manufacture, promotion and sales of her recordings under the prior contract, while she agrees not to perform for any other firm the numbers she had recorded for Decca for five years. Also signed by Decca's Vice-President in Charge of Artists and Repertoire. Gloria DeHaven (1925-2016) was a band vocalist in film musicals such as Best Foot Forward (1943) and Summer Holiday (1948). She gradually moved into acting, emerging as a star in Summer Stock(1950) andThe Doctor and the Girl(1949).These films appeared set to rocket her to stardom: she could sing and she could act, making her a great fit for any role. However, she gradually turned to television in the 1950s, making guest appearances on many different shows. When the popularity of film musicals waned, DeHaven remained active as a nightclub and summer stock performer and made television appearances for decades, most prominently inMary Hartman, Mary Hartman(1976-1977) and the short-lived Nakia (1974). She re-entered the feature film industry in Out to Sea (1997) nearly 50 years later, starring opposite Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau. Lightly creased.
