The Broadway singer and dancer signs in green ink. Extremely
rare!
Signature: "Gloria Foy", 4¼x2. Singer, dancer and actress
Gloria Foy (1901-1977) starred in Broadway musicals and revues,
beginning with Up She Goes (1922) and Betty Lee (1924). She
appeared in only one film, with a supporting role in the Clark Gable/Joan
Crawford movie Dancing Lady (1934). An aviator, she soloed for the first
time in 1933. In 1923, Foy inherited a large fortune from her uncle, with
one-third of the money paid her immediately, one-third on condition that she
marry within three years, and a final third on condition that she stay married
for 10 years. She fulfilled the first requirement but not the second. Toned.
Heavy mounting residue on verso. Edges lightly worn. Otherwise, fine
condition.
