J.", that the person she most admires is "Jesus Christ", that the world would be improved by "love", and that she is best known for "being Disco Queen". Gloria Gaynor became one of the best-known female disco artists from the 1970s due to the ongoing success of her monster 1979 hit (and subsequent "woman's anthem"), "I Will Survive." The song was awarded the first and only Grammy Award for Best Disco Recording in 1980.. She continues to issue albums and play shows (benefiting from the revival of disco,) published an autobiography (also titled I Will Survive), and appeared for a two-week run on Broadway's hit musical Smokey Joe's Café.
