JOHN McCALLUM (1917-2010) was an Australian stage and movie actor. He had over thirty acting credits in TV and movies in England and Australia between 1921 and 1987 and was frequently seen on the stage in productions such as William Somerset Maugham's The Circle. He married actress Googie Withers in 1948. McCallum was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1971 and an Officer of the Order of Australia in 1992 for his contributions to drama and theatre. British actress GOOGIE WITHERS (b. 1917) appeared in over 60 movies and TV shows between 1935 and 1996, including a recurring role as prison governess Faye Boswell in Within These Walls (1974-1975). The convent-educated Withers began acting professionally at age 12 as a chorus singer and landed her first film role in 1935's Windfall. She enjoyed her greatest popularity during the 1940s, when she specialized in playing velvet-clawed harpies and had numerous starring roles in films like On Approval (1944), Pink String and Sealing Wax (1946) and It Always Rains on Sunday (1947).
