GORDIE HOWE
A signed publicity photograph of the hockey star in his younger days
Photograph signed: "Gordon Howe". Color, 8x10. Gordie Howe (1928-2016), one of the
most prolific scorers in the history of the game, starred with the Detroit Red Wings from
1946-1971. The winner of six NHL scoring titles (1951-1954, 1957, 1963) and six MVP
Awards (1952, 1953, 1957, 1958, 1960, 1963), his combined USHL-NHL-WHL records
at his retirement in 1980 included 975 goals, 1,383 assists and 2,358 points. He scored
at least 20 goals in 27 consecutive seasons. With the Red Wings, Howe won four Stanley Cups
(1950, 1952, 1954, and 1955). When Howe, on the NHL Hartford Whalers, retired at
the age of 52, he was the oldest player ever to play major league hockey. He was
inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1972. His legacy lives on with the infamous
Gordie Howe hat trick: a goal, an assist, and a fight in a single game. In 2008, Howe
was named the first recipient of the NHL Lifetime Achievement Award. Matted. Fine
condition.
