ALF LANDON
Signed 5x7 photo, an older image
Photograph signed: "Alf M. Landon". B/w 5x7. Alfred M. Landon
(1887-1987), Governor of Kansas from 1933-1937, was the 1936
Republican candidate for President, losing in a landslide to President Franklin
Roosevelt by 523-8 electoral votes, carrying only Maine and Vermont.
Landon, who made his fortune in the oil industry, was a moderate Republican who
declined FDR's offer of a post in his Cabinet because Roosevelt wouldn't decline
to seek a third term. His daughter, Nancy Landon Kassebaum, represented Kansas
in the U.S. Senate for three terms (1979-1997). Fine
condition.
