Typed Letter signed: "Alf M. Landon", 1 page, 7¼ x 10½. Topeka,
Kansas, January 17, 1958. On personal letterhead to George R. Sanders, Jr.,
Director of Special Events, KMLA Broadcasting Corp., Los Angeles, California.
In full: "I am happy to send you under separate cover the photograph
you requested. [Item not included.] I have received letters on Sanders
Meander comments in past years. You must have quite an audience. With best
wishes." Alfred M. Landon (1887-1987), Governor of Kansas
from 1933-1937, was the 1936 Republican candidate for President, losing in a
landslide to President Franklin Roosevelt by 523-8 electoral votes,
carrying only Maine and Vermont. His daughter, Nancy Landon Kassebaum,
represented Kansas in the U.S. Senate for three terms (1979-1997). George
Sanders was a radio, TV and print journalist. Normal mailing folds. Fine
condition.
