CECIL D. ANDRUS
Signed publicity photo of the longest serving Idaho Governor
Photograph signed: "Cecil D. Andrus/Governor of Idaho". B/w, 8x10 overall, image 7½x8 (one surface). Cecil Dale Andrus (born in 1931) was the Democratic Governor of Idaho from 1971-1977 and then again from 1987-1995, serving longer than any other Governor in the state's history. In 1977, he was appointed as Secretary of the Interior by President Jimmy Carter. Two years later, Carter demanded the resignations of his entire Cabinet, but Andrus' resignation was not accepted, and he continued to serve until the end of Carter's administration in 1981. As Secretary of the Interior, Andrus created vast wilderness areas in Alaska. He published a memoir, Politics, Western Style, in 1998. Slightly creased at blank margins and corners. Minor surface scratches and striations (not evident head on), some touch facial image. Fine condition.
