Check signed: "C. Ridley", 7½x3. Check no. 110. Drawn on the account of Clarence Ridley at The Riggs National Bank. Payable to The Brightons for the amount of $21.00. Clarence Ridley (1883-1969) was a politician and a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Graduating fourth in his class from West Point, he went on to be second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and was later appointed as senior military aide to President Wilson. Between 1936 and 1940, Ridley served as Governor of the Panama Canal Zone, a former US territory consisting of mostly the Panama Canal. Corners lightly worn. Ink stamps on verso. Stray marks on front. Cancellations holes. Otherwise, fine condition.
