Typed Letter signed: "Dale Bumpers" in black ink, 1p, 8½x11. Little Rock, Arkansas, 1972
November 6. Written on personal Arkansas gubernatorial letterhead. Addressed to Mr. Paul
Friscat. In full: "Thank you for your recent letter regarding your stamp collection. I am glad I was
able to contribute to the success of your exhibit. Good luck in future showings. I appreciate your
good wishes for my future. Sincerely". Democrat Dale Bumpers (1925-2016) was a veteran of
WWII, an attorney, and a business owner before serving Governor of Arkansas from
1971-1975. Bumpers had previously served on the County Board of Education (1952-1970),
as City Attorney of Charleston (1955-1970), and on the Charleston School Board
(1955-1970). He was also a special justice on the Arkansas State Supreme Court. During his
two terms as governor, Bumpers and his wife Betty were early advocates of childhood
immunization, a cause he continued to champion while serving as a U.S. senator for the
state of Arkansas (1975-1999). Normal mailing folds. Frayed binding holes in left margin.
Lightly toned. Slight show-through of ink on front to verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
