Typed Letter signed: "David Pryor" as Governor, 1 page, 8½x11. Little Rock, Arkansas, 1977 August 19. On official letterhead to Miss Toni Currin, Dillon, South Carolina. In full: "Thank you for your letter requesting a picture of me. It is indeed a flattering request. Enclosed is a photograph recently taken at the State Capitol. [Item not included.] I hope it will serve your needs. Best wishes. Sincerely". Democrat David Hampton Pryor (born in 1934)represented Arkansas in the House (1966-1973) and Senate (1979-1997). In between, he was Governor of Arkansas from 1975-1979, when he was succeeded by Bill Clinton. Pryor was successful in his bid to become Secretary of the Democratic Conference, the third highest party position in the Senate. President Bush appointed Pryor to the board of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting in 2006. He also serves as Dean of the Clinton School of Public Service at the U. of Arkansas/Little Rock. His son, Mark Pryor, has occupied his father's old US Senate seat since 2003. Top left corner creased. Fine condition.
