Johnson (1884-1970) is best known as a Democratic U.S. Senator from Colorado (1937-1955). His speech on the Senate floor criticizing the extra-marital affair of actress Ingrid Bergman with Italian director Roberto Rossellini created a furor, causing the actress to flee to Europe before returning in the 1956 film, Anastasia. Johnson also served as Lieutenant Governor (1931-1933) and Governor of Colorado (1933-1937 and 1955-1957). Toned. Corners rounded. Paperclip mark on left margin. Otherwise, fine condition.
