Printed card signed in ink: "Everett Lake/Gov. of Com/1921-1922", in black ink, 3½x2 with embossed seal. Everett Lake (1871-1948) was an American Republican politician who served as the 67th Governor of Connecticut from 1921 to 1923. He also served in the Connecticut House of Representatives from 1903 to 1905 and the Connecticut State Senate from 1905 to 1907. During his tenure as Governor he passed a bill that disallowed children to work more than 8 hours in a day. A Harvard University graduate, Lake made his fortunes working for his father's business, the Hartford Lumber Company, serving as president from 1900 to 1939. Lightly soiled near embossed seal. Otherwise, fine condition.
