Signed 1925 letter of the 60th Governor of Vermont. A rare
signature!
Typed letter signed: "Franklin S. Billings", in black ink, 1
page 8½x11. April 14, 1925, Montpelier, Vermont. On his gubernatorial
letterhead, to "Dear Mr. Barrett" John Barrett, New York City, in
full: "I found your letter of the 10th on my return from Boston and
telegraphed you as you requested that I would be in Montpelier all this week
until Saturday. I now confirm the telegram and await your reply".
Franklin S. Billings (1862-1935) was elected Vermont's 60th
governor in 1925. A Republican, he served a single term. Before
joining Vermont politics Billings was a successful New York City business
executive. After moving to Vermont he became director of the Woodstock
Railway Company, Hotel Company, Aqueduct Company, and Electric Company. He
also was President of the Woodstock Ice Supply Company, and Treasurer of the
Empire Building Company and the Vermont Investment Company. Mailing folds.
